Hey there, Questers, and welcome back. It is Monday, December 13th, and this is episode 486. We have a short quote for you today, but it is a goodie from the renowned psychologist, Dr. Henry Link. Dr. Henry Link served from 1889 to 1952, and today’s quote is so good. He tells us, “We generate fears while we sit. We overcome them by action.”
Shi:
Of course, as you know, it is Monday, what we like to call fun-day, run-day, get-it-done-day. And I think this is a great way to kick off our week and talk about how we get things done because most of us, and me included, will oftentimes sit in fear, or sit in worry, or sit in anxiousness or anxiety. And knowing that the cure is action-even still knowing what the cure is-sometimes it’s hard to get motivated yourself to take action.
Kay:
Today, of all days, things are starting to get more and more difficult as we are in that week prior to Christmas. Now, many of you are likely starting to feel the holidays slow down. And if that is the case, remember the holidays really don’t officially begin until next week, and there are seven to 10 days left to ensure that you get the most out of this new year before the world slows down to be in love for a couple of weeks to celebrate with one another because, oftentimes, when we allow things to pile up before the holiday season, and then we get three, four weeks behind, we generate so much fear coming up into a new year that it can actually set us back.
Shi:
Heard one of our team members, Kendra Richardson, recently share the quote from Oprah that “Balance is always found in the present moment.” And what I love about this thought is that it helps us understand where fear comes from. It comes from when we’re not in the present moment, when we’re worried about the future, when we’re fretting about the past, when we’re anxious about circumstances and experiences outside of our control. And being able to bring ourselves into that present moment helps us maybe not get overwhelmed by those fears, but that’s exactly what Henry, our Doctor Link is telling us here in this first sentence, “We generate fears while we sit.” If we’re sitting inertia and we’re living in our heads, we’re going be rewinding or fast forwarding to a place that can generate those emotions that fuel and stoke fear. And this is why he tells us “We overcome them by action.” We get out of our head, back into our bodies, back into that balanced present moment as Oprah tells us, and start moving forward in any direction will help us squash those fears.
Kay:
From an energetic perspective, if we were to look at electricity as it moves down a line, if the electricity doesn’t have anywhere to go in a forward movement space, it will sit and it will pool. And now it can either be pulled into something that can collect it like a battery, or it will pool into something that can’t collect it and it’ll spark over. It might spark a wildfire. It might just sit there and create more energy inside-whatever that is-so that if somebody unwittingly came along and touched it, then they get shocked. So from an electric standpoint, this absolutely happens when electricity sits still. It pools in really unhealthy ways. Now you’ve heard us talk before quite a bit about how we truly, as human beings, are kind of these electric beings. The difference between you and a dead person is that you have electricity running through your body and they do not. And so it’s very similar with us, when our forward momentum or their path forward isn’t clear and steady for us, oftentimes the energy can just sit and pull in the container, except the container isn’t a battery or something that can spark over. The container is your human body, and that electricity isn’t always positive when you don’t overcome it by taking action and creating-like Shyla said-that inertia.
