A Daily Scroll: A Mentorship Recap – December 17th, 2021 – Show Notes

Kay:

Hey, hey, Questers. It is Friday, December 17th. This is episode 490. We got eight maids a-milking today as we march in these 12 days to Christmas. We’re very excited next week to be celebrating Christmas Eve. Many of you are beginning your Christmas celebrations today and over the weekend. And to that, we say a hardy Ho-Ho as we move into today’s quote by Miss Golda Meir.

Shi:

And our quote for us today is from a Golda Meir who says “Make the most of yourself by fanning the tiny inner sparks of possibility into flames of achievement.” And if you’re not familiar with who Golda Meir was, she was an Israeli politician and teacher and the fourth prime minister of Israel. She immigrated to the US as a child in 1906 and was educated here before becoming a teacher. So, truly an inspirational pioneer and such a deep wisdom that she brings forward to us today with great imagery.

Kay:

Currently in the midst of reading a book called Mastery by Robert Green, and it is an incredible book. It was suggested to me by many respected people who I know and love. And in the reading of this book, they talk about how the genius is in the masters of this world. When they finally figure out what it is, the thing that sparks their flame into achievement, that they go in and fan it, and that’s what helps them to become the master and the greatness that they are. How many of us can feel like, “Well, I haven’t figured out what that is. What is that tiny inner spark? I know bits of it, but I’ve not really defined what it is.” And Mastery encourages us to go back into our childhood, go back into our early years and find those places where you have sparks, a possibility that sparks you so much you can’t stop, sparks you so much it creates a quick wildfire. Now, that could be voraciously reading through a novel, and who knows what that means for you in regards to a purpose, but there are sparks available to every single one of us that, if fanned, can really turn into some incredible flames.

Shi:

We all are gifted the sparks, and we are all gifted the ability to fan them, but the fanning is the work, and it can be tough. I really think about my eight year old daughter, Annadelle, is literally obsessed with gymnastics. Obsessed. This obsession started to come up in about August this year, and she had just started soccer and then said, “I really wanna go into gymnastics.” And we said, “You need to finish soccer before we get you into gymnastics.” Well, she took it upon herself to fan those sparks of possibility, and literally started spending her iPad time, watching YouTube videos of “how to” on gymnastics. Now, here we are in December. She is in gymnastics, has been in it for about a month, but she’s advancing extremely quickly and still literally spending hours every day, like an hour in the morning and an hour at night, practicing her handstands, her cartwheels, her round-offs, her back-bends. She’s watching the videos, she’s learning tutorials, she’s sweating through it. We ordered a bar system so that she can hang and flip on a bar. She has this spark and love for gymnastics, but without the fanning, it would not turn into the achievement that she is now seeing in terms of progressing quickly through a gymnastics official program. It would’ve taken all of this time out there on the gymnastics mat if she wasn’t spending the time fanning the tiny spark here at home. So it’s been neat to watch her do that. Of course, as a mom, I’m so proud of her, but watching that spark turn into a bit of a flame, and see her start to progress and get better is just so gratifying and such a great reflection of the lesson presented here.

Kay:

Well, I think all of us could learn a thing or two from Annadelle when you find something that sparks that flame. I think a lot of us can find something that really sparks us up on the inside. And because maybe we felt that spark when we were a kid, we discount it into being not important, or not good enough for us, or something that we feel might not help us reach the level of monetary success that we’re looking to get at. That is not the point of your freaking sparks. Your sparks are meant to create fire and passion in your life. Your sparks are meant to create achievement, but achievement that is born from a place of your own inner passion. And so finding those tiny inner sparks, beautiful to hear it in children, but as we grow into adults, sometimes it can feel like we get hardened to the passions of life. And where is that spark for you? And what does that mean? And then, taking that note from Annadelle and that if you find it, freaking span it, and you will start to see some incredible success very quickly. So, to remind you of this incredible quote from a beautiful woman, “Make the most of yourself by fanning the tiny inner sparks of possibility into flames of achievement.” Thank you, Golda Meir.

Shi:

Well, today was 8 maids-a-milking. Over the weekend, we hope you get your swans-a-swimming and your geese-a-laying. You’ve got a bird theme over the weekend. We will see you again here on Monday, but until then we do have a #Friyay quest for you. And it’s a simple one. We want you to get inspired, listen to the wisdom of others like a Ted talk, or maybe a favorite blog, or even just open your favorite book to a random page and let the Universe deliver to you a cosmic message so that you can reignite your internal fire, fan those sparks and turn them into flames of achievement. Are you ready?

Kay:

Let’s quest.
