A Daily Scroll: A Mentorship Recap – October 1st 2021 – Show Notes

Hello there, Questers. It is kind of a fun day today, a brand-new month, October 1st, and it’s a Friday, a new beginnings episode 455 for you today. We have a bit of an out-there quote but we’re excited to dive into it from the one and only Prince.

Shi:

Five words, but we’re going to go with it like Prince. Yeah. Prince tells us, “I rock, therefore I am.”

Kay:

In history and in a career like Princes, I believe that this was true. The day that he ceased to be on this planet physically, he rocked until the very final day of his life and Prince was an absolute icon who produced so many good tracks Shila and I remember growing up on. But what I love about this is that many of us have heard the common phrase, “I think therefore I am.” The Prince is out of the dimension because if you listened to our episode yesterday, well, I love that he takes the theory behind, “I think therefore I am.” and says, well, what’s the thing that lights me up. It’s music and thank goodness he rocked and was because, I mean, I don’t know if anyone would argue with the fact that he was built to do what he did and he was born to do that. He worked his butt off to get there but he was living his truest purpose and, I don’t know if everyone necessarily has something that’s just so pure and so singular. Prince was very dimensional, but to have that love of music and that passion for the art and the industry and the pageantry and the collaboration, all of the aspects that come along with being a musician at his level.

I think he embodied that so well that it was clear that he’s who he was, and you might find something in your life that you rock at and swap it out for something that you love. Maybe, yeah. I love therefore I am. I physically am able therefore I am. What’s the thing that really gets you going, that makes it happen for you, that lights you up inside, that gets you. I serve therefore I am, would likely be one our mom would bring forward. So, what are those things for you? So just like Prince, when you can get it down to something like this was a mantra he had in his heart and mind, which meant that when he was out there rocking, which was great because that’s the majority of what he got to do he was living at his truest core.

Shi:

I love too that he highlights that musician piece because music really is such an integral part of humanity. There are people who exist, who don’t just care for it, who don’t really care for music. They’re like men, but by and large, the majority of people enjoy a good rhythm and they like different styles, but whatever kind of music it is, they enjoy it. It makes them feel good. They feel it in their soul. You know what I’m talking about here? That feeling of just that favorite song of yours or that musical or that album. When you were a teenager, there’s music that connects us, is that great, universal power of creation and the name of God, then I think any time we feel that passion or that love, whether it be through music or through something else that we are channeling that highest consciousness.

Kay:

Oh, I love that you brought that perspective forward, Shila, being able to channel that higher consciousness for the benefit of others and finding like-minded people to come together and celebrate with him around the love of rock and the love of rock and roll. He truly had, I think obviously with his millions of fans and his tens of millions of records sold that guitar string that the beat struck the hearts of a lot of people.

Shi:

He also happens to be our mentor and business partner and if you’re a longtime listener, you know we’re going to talk about Joseph McClendon right now. But Joseph McClendon III who is Tony Robbins’ business partner as well and co-speaker is also a musician at heart. He says that Prince was the best musician of all time, certainly of our age, and has a mad amount of respect for him. We’ve even heard Joseph sing at the piano, a Prince song and it was absolutely lovely. So, to honor Prince and honor, Joseph here is the quote for you today. “I rock, therefore I am.”

Kay:

Alright to honor Prince and his God-given gift of rock we want you to put on your favorite track today. Kudos if it’s a Prince track, but no pressure, and rock it out, whether that’s at home, in the car, maybe you’re hip-hopping along, or maybe you’re just going to wiggle a little bit in your office chair, take some time to let that music fuel you and really feel it because after all, you rock. Are you ready? Rock it with us now.

Kay & Shi:

Let’s quest!
