A Daily Scroll: A Mentorship Recap – September 10th 2021 – Show Notes

Kay:

Alrighty friends, we have a Fancy Friday quote for you today because it is Fri-yay. Today is September 10th and we are off on a very fun adventure over the next three days. Our restaurant is a major sponsor of the Great Reno Balloon Races. So, be sure to check out our Instagram and our Facebook to follow along on all of the adventures. We will be attending the Cloud 9 VIP tent every single day with a various array of guests and are very excited to be out here supporting a beautiful local event.

Shi:

Alright, your Fancy Friday quote today is, “The joy of dressing is an art.”

Kay:

Now, this quote comes to you from John Galliano, who, if you don’t recognize that name, he was the head designer of some big French fashion companies like Givenchy, Christian Dior, and even had his own label, John Galliano. So, he is right now, the Creative Director of the Paris-based fashion house, Maison Margiela, and this quote is so good because it truly is a joy to dress in art.

Shi:

It is and I love just the imagery and the passion for this industry coming through. When you just love something and then you develop that into a skill and back it up with discipline and talent and hard work you get a career like John Galliano, and you get somebody who really looks at getting dressed as an art form.

Kay:

Well, see if we can take a little bit of that passion that some people feel for these sections. John Galliano feels so passionate about fashion just like how Bobby Flay feels really passionate about food. There are people out there who feel very passionate about all kinds of different things. But taking little bites of their passion for our own selves can help us to find just more joy in our daily life.

Shi:

Ooh, I love that. I love that. It’s the passion buffet. I love it and getting to take the best because people are so talented, you get to benefit from that. We’ve benefited directly from Bobby Flay, from him coming to our restaurant and featuring us on his show. But how many folks have memories in his restaurants and enjoy watching his show and have developed a relationship and learned cooking through getting to know him as a celebrity chef. So, he’s been able to give back to the world because he has that passion and he’s followed it just like John here and just like so many, it’s really neat to observe.

Kay:

Well, let’s take a bite of John’s passion here for the rest of today’s episode and just talk a little bit about fashion. Now, you might not be the kind of person who loves curating outfits. To be honest we’re both sitting here in our Lululemon yoga pants and a couple of cotton t-shirts. But we love feeling good in clothes that make us feel like ourselves.

Shi:

Fashion doesn’t necessarily have to mean dressed up and I think for many people they feel like you either engage in fashion on a runway level or in a Macy’s level or you don’t. But you can have your own fashion and style with leggings and the cotton t-shirt or with jeans and the button up or with the colored shirts and slacks or whatever that is for you. I know that both of us even like to bring a little fashion when we’re in our jams at home.

Kay:

Oh yeah. Bring me a little something, something, a nice tuck into your t-shirt into those jammy shorts.

Shi:

Do you need earrings on a Sunday?

Kay:

Right! Just to make you feel good or having the colored lipstick or Chapstick so that I can feel like I’m being moisturized, but also feel like I’m getting dressed up. We also have our lashes done because it just makes us feel good because that joy of dressing can really add some joy to your life. If you dress the way that you want in the way that makes you feel your best, most authentic self, whether it’s the yoga pants or the fancy outfit, you feel your best authentic self.

Shi:

The physical reality is one of the realities you’re experiencing so it’s okay to allow yourself to think about things in these terms. We have our mental reality, and we have our spiritual reality, and we have our emotional reality, but we also have our physical reality. Your body is the vehicle that you have here and when you feel good about it, it releases endorphins. It makes the cells happy. It runs better. It’s less stressed. So, really addressing in a way that you like helps you feel better about you and helps you be healthy.

Kay:

Yep. So, just a reminder of what John Galliano tells us, “The joy of dressing is an art.”

Shi:

Alright, Fancy Friday Quest today. To celebrate finishing your week off strong we want you to celebrate yourself by getting all dolled up, whatever that means to you.
