A Daily Scroll: A Mentorship Recap – September 20th 2021 – Show Notes

Kay:

Hello there Questers and welcome back. It’s September 20th and it’s Monday. This is episode 446 and we have a quote from Mr. Arnold Schwarzenegger the Terminator, the Governator.

Shi:

The inspiring bodybuilder who tells us, “What is the point of being on this earth if you are going to be like everyone else.”

Kay:

Now, Arnold has such a great quote in this because what an extraordinary human being he is.

Shi:

He’s accomplished so much. If you’ve followed his life or you know his story at all it kind of goes in these phases of life. First, Austrian I think is his nationality and he grows up in Austria and he decides to join the wrestling team. He becomes part of the team. He’s not that good, but he decides he wants to become the best at bodybuilding and starts on his quest to be the best in that and he comes up against a lot, but he manages to do that and becomes Mr. Universe and does all of the accomplishments. Then while in training for that says, I want to do acting and I think that I have a future in that. So, he tells stories if you listen to any of his speeches about doing bodybuilding for eight, 10 hours a day, and then taking acting classes at night and then working a job to make ends meet and getting about four hours of sleep at night. Then, of course, he broke into acting even though he had all kinds of obstacles and issues and challenges along the way there and has now played some of those most memorable roles that many of us can remember and relate to. Then he had his whole political career, so this is a man who’s done a lot and put his mind to do a lot and is a great example of what he’s demonstrating in this quote here.

Kay:

Well, he is saying what’s the point of being here if you’re going to be like everyone else, but he demonstrates what that actually takes. In this case, the demonstration has been that of discipline in addition to his work ethic and willpower to see him go through those long hours to do what it takes to get to where he wants to go and to have three wildly different phases within his life that lead to one beautiful, extraordinary, different life for Arnold.

Shi:

And of course, there are decisions you likely agree or don’t agree with and choices he’s made along the way that maybe you wish you would’ve made differently, or you think you would’ve made differently. But the point is that he has lived unapologetically in a way that allows him to use his life as an example for others and to be able to point back and say if I did it so can you. Just an immigrant kid who wanted to get into bodybuilding. First, I was scrawny and then I was the immigrant who couldn’t act and then I was the governor with no political experience. Now he’s a keynote speaker and a business advisor and still involved in a lot of really high-level initiatives and items but I think he’s most inspirational when it comes to looking at how much he’s accomplished and what he’s done when he’s put his mind to it.

Kay:

Well, it really boils down to how he has all these phases. He has all these major accomplishments but none of that was won in the time of the major accomplishment. All of that was won on the day-to-day. So, are you Arnold-ising your habits on the day-to-day? Are you that dedicated to your dreams and goals? Do you want something because you want something, or do you have a burning desire inside that leads you to act a little crazy in the way that you approach it similarly to the way Arnold approaches his life?

Shi:

Contemplating a question like this for yourself can maybe help you make some decisions or take some risks or address some issues that you’ve been putting off or avoiding even. But remembering what is the point of being on this earth if I’m just going to be like everyone else. That doesn’t mean necessarily that you can’t work a nine to five and you can’t have 2.5 kids and you can’t have the white picket fence. There are extraordinary people who have and do all of those things. But coming from that place of mindset; if you’ve got other desires, if you’ve got other aspirations, if you’ve got that message on your heart to do and be and share more, then now is the time to act and this is the only chance around this globe that you’ve got that we at least know of right now, which means be on this earth and be you and do it in the way that lets everyone else know that it’s not just the same old same old.

Kay:

So, like Arnold Schwarzenegger tells us, “What is the point of being on this earth if you are going to be like everyone else?”

Shi:

Alright, it is a Monday, Fun Day, Run Day. If you’re like me, ‘get it done’ day. So today decide on both a habit and a reward that you can implement for the rest of the week. Maybe it’s flossing or washing your face at night, or maybe it’s taking the dog for a walk or spending 15 intentional minutes with your kids. But do something that is extraordinary for you that gives you a habit and a reward that will set you apart from everyone else. Are you ready? Let’s get it done together.

Kay & Shi:

Let’s quest!
