A Daily Scroll: A Mentorship Recap – September 30th 2021 – Show Notes

Kay:

Hey, hey Questers thank goodness. It’s Thursday. We are inching toward the end of the month, the final day of September. Hard to believe we’re marching into the fourth quarter of 2021. It is September 30th, and this is episode 454 of the mentorship request. Today’s quote is by Taylor Swift, and she says, “Just be yourself, there is no one better.”

Shi:

You obviously know who Taylor Swift is. The pop star icon and really talented musician and we’re fans, big fans of Taylor Swift. This is a simple quote but a beautiful message. Be yourself, there’s no one better. It is because all of us are so individual and we get to be part of this incredible expression of creation and life and consciousness, embracing that and celebrating it is truly the best thing we can do for ourselves and for that consciousness.

Kay:

Well, as you were born, you created this beautiful, unique little pocket in the universe of people who care about you and the energy that flows in your direction and things that happen around you and your work and your people and your conversations and your dog or whatever it is. You’ve got this little unique pocket and if you don’t fulfill that pocket in this life then no one else is going to do that. No one’s going to expand that pocket on your behalf. No one’s going to live in that pocket or make it better or make it cooler or make it whatever you want it to be. No one’s going to do that on your behalf. So just be yourself.

Shi:

I love that. That’s beautiful. I’m listening to Sadhguru’s book “Karma” right now and he talks about the idea I love. I just love the imagery and the metaphor here that we are all like bubbles in the air and the air that’s inside of the bubble is your little pocket right of consciousness. But once the bubble pops, you go back to being part of the big consciousness. So, if you’re inside your bubble, a bubble is fragile and it’s just back to the wind. It has other bubbles that it’s been created around and might flock with based on those wind patterns. But if it tries too hard to go be another bubble, both bubbles will pop and that’s not a good thing. Certainly, your bubble will pop before extending the metaphor here rather than just enjoying the fact that you’re a beautiful bubble.

Kay:

You are a beautiful, iridescent, gorgeous, and floating above the air bubble and no one can be that unique blend of your destiny, of a bubble that you can be. I think there’s this idea that many of us will find ourselves and then have this big revelation and now I’m a complete bubble right now. I will never pop ever again because I found myself. But I think that finding yourself and finding your true inner self is a bit more of an iterative process.

Shi:

Well, how does a masterpiece get painted? It’s this process over time and the last brushstroke isn’t until your last breath. So, you only get to stand back and look at the picture of your life, through the lens of heaven, or after your death. That’s truly the only time that it’s done which means we’re in the process of painting all along and that means that may mean that you cover the whole canvas with one color first and then fill in. It may mean that you start in one corner and build up, but it’s yours to paint, and trying to mimic anyone else’s just holds back what was ever meant to emerge on your canvas.

Kay:

So, don’t put so much pressure on yourself and think that the masterpiece needs to be finished, because I think there’s a lot of narratives right now around you, find the true self and find your true happiness, find your true passion, you’re true right now forever. But it could be different in 20 years from now and that’s okay. That’s beautiful because you’re still adding those brushstrokes onto that big, beautiful canvas and you’re always growing. You should always be discovering things by yourself. There should be new dimensions and colors and who knows, maybe you’ll start on googly eyes and glitter, a little Bob Ross situation in there. But the point is that there isn’t a rival place in life until you die and so you’re always at it.

Shi:

I love it. So, to remind you of this simple, yet powerful quote from a powerful woman, Taylor Swift, she tells us, “Just be yourself, there is no one better.”
