Kay:

Hey there Questers and a welcome back. This is episode 399! I feel like I’m trying to sell you something…

Kay & Shi:

399!

Kay:

Come on now 399!

Shi:

Thursday!

Kay:

Thursday, July 15th, one time.

Shi:

One day only!

Kay:

On the Mentorship Quest, we have a great quote for you today from a Swiss-born German artist. His name is Paul Klee, and he says, “A single day is enough to make us a little larger or, another time a little smaller.”

Shi:

We all have days that we remember. The ones that made us bigger and the ones that made us smaller. Just do a little rewind in your brain and pick out a handful of those days that you can remember. Some of them are pivotal moments that shaped you as a kid. Some of them are random days that just were so good. Some of them were tragic days that you’ll never forget. Some of them are big accomplishments or big memories and some of them, for some reason, a simple moment just got captured in your heart forever. For whatever reason, there are big and small things that have happened to us that can make us feel all kinds of different ways and that stick with us forever.

Kay:

In this quote, “A single day is enough to make us a little larger.” Just that very first sentence when I thought about this, initially, it kind of brought to light for me how many people have the day that Good Morning America calls you or the day that, that thing happens that helps you be a little bit larger. I was actually reflecting on this earlier today, as I was watching Kevin Hart on Instagram, celebrating having his movie be number one on Netflix for both Saturday and Sunday over the weekend. He was celebrating that. Now, the single day of that movie being number one on Netflix was a day that is enough to make Kevin Hart a little larger, even though he’s already a mega, super megastar having a number one Netflix movie is a big deal. So, it made him a little bit larger on that single day, but there was so much work that went into that. The launch of the movie, the filming of the movie, the production of the movie, the incredible amounts of teams that came behind that. So, yes, a single day is enough on the larger side to make you a little larger but oftentimes that comes with a whole host of days prior to that, that we’re wholly unremarkable.

Shi:

You get rewarded in public for what you’ve practiced in private for years. A common saying, and that’s a great reflection of it. Last Fall, for those of you who are John Maxwell Team members, you know that we launched the John Maxwell Team Marketing System, and it has been revolutionary for the members but it’s also been revolutionary for Kay and I. I mean, almost 2000 members came on which really elevated our responsibility and our reward and our position, and our ability to elevate others and build a faculty, have more support. It’s been so cool and so that day that it launched was one of those days for us. It was surreal.

Kay:

Never forget it.

Shi:

Never forget those moments in that launch webinar. For those of you who were there, you know, you felt the energy, and the numbers backed it up. So, it was a day that made us bigger. It was a day that we’ll never forget and yet it took three years of days, and almost 1,000 days to get to that singular day.

Kay:

And a ton of tears on the in-between. We went through so many days that felt like they made us smaller in order to get to the one day that made us a little larger. So, if maybe you’re listening to this quote or you heard it initially, instead of a single day can make me big or, it can make me small. Don’t put all of your success and failure into one day, because oftentimes the one day is really a culmination of the many months or years like us that came before.

Shi:

Even though that’s true, most of the time you all can probably also think of at least one or two things that have happened in your life.

Kay:

Surprise!

Shi:

That we are just little surprises, delightful coincidences, wonderful alignments where truly something can come in that is brand new and super exciting where at once it did not exist the day before.

Kay:

Yes, absolutely. I think I most relate to this in finding out I was pregnant with my daughter Violet, and I’m sure you got that too. The first time you get a second pink line on a pregnancy test is one day where your life gets a little bit larger. Okay, it gets a LOT a bit larger.

Shi:

Alright. So, to remind you of what Paul Klee tells us,” A single day is enough to make us a little larger or, another time, a little smaller.”

Kay:

Alrighty, guys, for that thoughtful quote, we have a #ThoughtfulThursday Quest. Today we want you to take action on exploring a curiosity of yours and make your brain physically, and your mind metaphorically just a little bit larger by building upon your neurological pathways. Remember new things and novelty leads to a new neurology in your mind. Are you ready? You know what to do..

Kay & Shi:

Let’s quest!
