The Daily Scroll: A Mentorship Recap – July 2nd, 2020 Show Notes

Kay:

Hey there, Questers! And, welcome to Episode 129! We have an awesome quote for you today from the one and only Jesus Christ…

Shi:

…Who said, “If you bring forth what is within you, what you bring forth will save you. If you do not bring forth what is within you, what you do not bring forth will destroy you.”

Kay:

Well, okay Jesus! You are not mincing words around some pretty deep and important subjects…

Shi:

Right? So, this might make you say cheese and rice here, because this is pretty dramatic language. And, we read somewhere the translation is more likely “greatly benefit”, rather than “save”, and “greatly impede”, rather than “destroy”. So, if we swap those out, it says, “If you bring forth what is within you, what you bring forth will greatly benefit you. If you do not bring forth what is within you, what you do not bring forth will greatly impede you.” So, I think, what we’re talking about here is that creativity, that passion, that purpose, and that gift you have been given that you’re really good at. And, if you squash it, it will only squash you…

Kay:

I think there’s a few sides to that particular coin, with the dreams that you don’t pay attention to, and the lessons that you choose not to learn as well. If you are a Mentorship Quest listener, then you know that earlier this week we had a quote from Rafiki, stating that you’re either going to run from your lessons or you’re going to learn from them. And, if you’re the kind of person who doesn’t bring forth the pain in your life to examine it and to learn from it, then it will impede you in the future, because it will come around on its own…

Shi:

Exactly! And, that just means that it’s going to come back, and you’ll have to learn that lesson over again, or you stay stagnant. And, of course, as human beings, what we want is expansion, growth, progress, and we want to see things move forward. But, that means that we have to move forward, which means we also have to move out of our comfort zone. And, that’s tough! So, many times, we allow ourselves to stay comfortable, or to not take action, and not bring forth that thing inside of us that’s stirring, or whispering, or calling us. And, ultimately, it just ends up hurting…because you know you can do it!

Kay:

Now, Shi, there’s a really cool principle that you talk about all the time, and I’m really going to mess it up if I try and say it, but it’s about the weight of regret, and the pain of discipline?

Shi:

Oh yes! You know, it’s been said that the weight of regret weighs pounds, but the weight of discipline weighs ounces. So, you know, either way, you’re either going to be disciplined and have the pain now, or you’re going to have massive pain later with regret, because there’s nothing you can do at that point.

Kay:

So, you want to bring forth what is within you, and you take action on that. And, “bring forth” doesn’t mean just think about it…It means to bring it into reality! If you have something inside, bring it forward, because it will save you, and it will benefit you. If you do not bring forth what’s inside, it will destroy you. The pain of that regret, and looking back on NOT bringing forward that thing that’s nudging your soul to come and express through you as a human being…that pain on the backend is going to hurt you SO bad! It might even take you down…

Shi:

And, what is inside of us is also oftentimes that soulful piece, that connection to divinity, and that connection to a higher power. And, we want to express that and let it express itself. And, when we don’t, we don’t allow it to grow, and we don’t allow it to have more expression and more connection. And, you know, in that religious way, you really need it to be saved. You need to make this connection with the spirit, and you need to make that connection with the creator within you. And, that is however you believe the creator to be – it’s important to connect with it so that you can develop that relationship, and develop those gifts, and give more!

Kay:

Now, he’s not saying if you bring forth all of the resources that are outside of you…He’s not saying if you collect the perfect combination of mentors and people in your life…He is saying that if you bring forth what’s already inside. So, what are those passions? Where is that connection? Where do you find that within yourself, and where are those areas that you might be ignoring, or shoving off to the side a little bit, like we talked about earlier this week? Because, not paying attention to those things might come back and destroy you in the end!

Shi:

So, to remind you, your quote today is from Jesus Christ, who said, “If you bring forth what is within you, what you bring forth will save you. If you do not bring forth what is within you, what you do not bring forth will destroy you.”

Kay:

Now, our quest for you today is an inner exploration quest. SO – You’re going to go deep inside, for just a moment, and ask what it is that needs to come forth from within you. Take some time to get quiet with yourself, because it’s the only way you’re going to get a real answer! So, deep inside, get quiet, and ask yourself: What needs to come forth? What is something that continues to stir inside of you, that you may be ignoring, that you can acknowledge today? We’re not asking you to act on it today…We’re just asking you to acknowledge that you have something bubbling inside of you that could use some attention, before it destroys you in the future! Are you ready?

Kay & Shi:

Let’s quest!
